Day : 1 - A Day in jungle

On day 1 of the trip, we shall head to Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, a 644 square kilometer protected area in Palakkad district, Kerala. Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is among the top-ten best managed Tiger Reserves in India. The people from tribal colonies inside the reserve are engaged as guides for treks and safaris and are provided employment through various eco-tourism initiatives. In Parambikulam we shall stay in a treehouse, set deep in the forest, by a serene lake. The activities in the forest include a Jungle safari to the core areas of the reserve, Bamboo rafting through the reservoir, and a guided trek into the forest.

Day : 2 - The Very wild Nelliyampathi Hills

Nelliyampathy is a small hill station located just about 17 km diagonally opposite from Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. The forest roads to Nelliyampathy hills being non-accessible to civilians, we have to go a full detour to reach Nelliyampathy after about 3-hour drive from Parambikulam. Nelliyampathy hills are situated at a height of about 1600 meters above sea level and enjoy a very pleasant climate throughout the year. The most interesting fact about Nelliyampathy hills is that it is situated in the very wild region of Nelliyampathy forest reserve, one of the most abundant wildlife corridors in the South of India connecting the reserve to Parambikulam Tiger reserve and Anamalai National park in Tamil Nadu. Most times leopard and tiger sightings are very common in Nelliyampathy. Wildlife can also be easily seen around most of the resorts and estates in Nelliyampathy. On reaching Nelliyampathy we can do an offroad jeep ride to reach the most offbeat destination in Nelliyampathy called Maanpaara. The extreme offroad drive to Maanpaara is an experience by itself the most memorable one of the trip. Maanpaara is a vantage viewpoint in Nelliyampathy from where one can view the plains of Tamil Nadu and the Palghat gap of Kerala. After the offroad drive, we shall check into our resort to relax for the day and evening disturbed only by the sounds of the forests, animals, birds, and of pristine nature around.

Day : 3 - Palghat and around

On the last day of the trip we shall head to Palghat town which is just about a 2 hour drive from Nelliyampathy. In Palghat, we shall have a city tour, and also visit Tipu Sultans Fort which is situated in the heart of Palghat town. The fort was built in 17th century by a local ruler, and it was captured by Hyder Ali in the year 1757 and has been in occupation by the Mysore Sultans, until it was captured by the British. After visiting the fort we shall head to Kava island, a beautiful forest drive just out of the city where this green stretch of land is situated amongst hills and the reservoir of the Malapuzha dam. From Kava island we shall drive to the famous Malampuzha gardens situated by the Malapamuzha dam and we shall also go on a cable car ride to enjoy the views of Malampuzha from a height. After visiting Malampuzha we shall head back towards Coimbatore city and on the way, we shall visit the Isha Yoga center. Isha Yoga Center is situated at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains and is the headquarters for Isha Foundation. A towering 112-feet high Shiva statue called Adiyogi, is the highlight of Isha yoga center; this glorious face represents the 112 ways one can attain to one’s ultimate nature. In May 2017, Adiyogi was declared the world’s largest bust sculpture by Guinness Book of World Records. Affter visiting Isha Yoga center we can return to Coimbatore city from where you can catch your return flight or train home.
